Button Head ISO 7380 Socket Screw
Button head socket screw with low profile, rounded finish and internal hex drive. A technical fastening solution for visible assemblies, housings, fixtures, machining applications and components where space or appearance matters.
What is an ISO 7380 screw?
The ISO 7380 screw is a socket screw with a button head, defined by its low and rounded shape. It is designed for applications where reliable fastening is required together with a cleaner visual finish.
Unlike a traditional cylindrical socket head screw, the button head has a lower projection and a smoother geometry. This makes it especially useful in housings, covers, sheet metal, visible parts and assemblies with limited space.
Button head
Low, rounded geometry without aggressive edges for visible assemblies.
Internal hex
Allows tightening with an Allen key or controlled tool.
Low profile
Reduces external height compared with cylindrical socket head screws.
Visible finish
Suitable for applications where the fastening element remains visible.
Main characteristics
The ISO 7380 standard defines a compact and visually clean socket fastener, intended for assemblies where functionality, access and finish are combined.
Common materials and grades
Technical materials
- Carbon steel 8.8 · general industrial use
- Carbon steel 10.9 · higher mechanical strength
- A2 stainless steel · indoor or moderate humidity environments
- A4 stainless steel · outdoor or corrosive environments
Common finishes
- Zinc plated · standard surface protection
- Black oxide · dark technical finish
- Natural stainless · corrosion resistance
- Special coatings · according to technical requirements
Material selection should be based on load, working environment, corrosion resistance, temperature and traceability requirements.
Common ISO 7380 dimensions
| Metric size | Head type | Drive | Common use |
|---|---|---|---|
| M3 | Button head | Socket | Small components |
| M4 | Button head | Socket | Housings and covers |
| M5 | Button head | Socket | Fixtures and supports |
| M6 | Button head | Socket | Industrial assemblies |
| M8 | Button head | Socket | Visible parts |
| M10 | Button head | Socket | Mechanical assemblies |
| M12 | Button head | Socket | Robust applications |
This table is indicative. For manufacturing, technical purchasing or dimensional verification, the complete ISO 7380 standard dimensions and the tolerances applicable to the project should be consulted.
Common applications
ISO 7380 compared with other socket screws
The right choice depends on the available space, tightening torque, visual finish and whether a countersink needs to be machined or avoided.
Button head
- Low and rounded profile
- Good visual finish
- No countersinking required
- Ideal for visible parts
Cylindrical head
- Higher head height
- Higher tightening capacity
- General technical use
- Less aesthetic for visible parts
Countersunk head
- Sits flush with the surface
- Requires countersink machining
- Flat finish
- More constrained assembly
A functional fastener with a clean visual finish
Lower external height
Its low head helps reduce interference with other components.
No countersinking needed
Allows clean assembly without machining a conical seat.
Good visual integration
Its rounded shape blends better into visible elements.
Socket drive assembly
Makes tightening easier in areas where an external wrench cannot access.
