INCONEL® 625
UNS N06625
Nickel-chromium-molybdenum superalloy with niobium, designed to offer high corrosion resistance, good performance in severe environments, high-temperature service and made-to-drawing CNC machined parts.
A nickel superalloy for extreme environments
INCONEL® 625, also identified as UNS N06625, is a nickel-based superalloy with chromium, molybdenum and niobium, used when the part must withstand severe corrosion, temperature, pressure and critical service conditions.
Its chemical combination makes it a highly valuable material for the chemical industry, petrochemical industry, oil & gas, offshore, marine applications, heat exchangers, valves, pumps, special fasteners and made-to-drawing machined components.
Material identification
What is INCONEL® 625?
It is a nickel-based superalloy strengthened by chromium, molybdenum and niobium, developed to operate in conditions where many stainless steels or conventional alloys do not provide sufficient resistance.
Molybdenum and niobium help strengthen the nickel-chromium matrix, providing high strength without the need for precipitation hardening. This is why it is used in components exposed to corrosion, temperature, pressure and chemically aggressive environments.
Nickel base
Superalloy designed for critical service and severe environments.
Mo + Nb
Molybdenum and niobium strengthen the nickel-chromium matrix of the material.
Severe corrosion
Very good performance against pitting, crevice corrosion and aggressive media.
Made-to-drawing parts
Suitable for shafts, bushings, flanges, screws, nuts and CNC parts.
Why it is used in critical applications
INCONEL® 625 is selected when the part needs to combine mechanical strength, stability, corrosion resistance and reliability in conditions where the material works close to its limits.
| Property | Technical advantage |
|---|---|
| Corrosion resistance | Good performance in chemical, marine, saline and severe environments. |
| Pitting and crevice corrosion | Highly valuable against localised corrosion, especially in aggressive environments. |
| Ni-Cr-Mo-Nb base | Composition designed for strength, stability and in-service performance. |
| High temperature | Suitable for components exposed to heat, oxidation and thermal cycles. |
| Good mechanical strength | Allows critical parts subjected to load, pressure or stress to be manufactured. |
| Technical machining | Requires cutting strategy, cooling, rigidity and tool control. |
A nickel-chromium matrix strengthened with molybdenum and niobium
The behaviour of INCONEL® 625 is based on a composition dominated by nickel, chromium, molybdenum and niobium.
Chromium contributes to oxidation and corrosion resistance, molybdenum improves performance in aggressive media and niobium helps strengthen the material matrix.
