Technical overview

A nickel alloy for environments where corrosion does not forgive

HASTELLOY® C22 is used in applications where chemical resistance, material stability and component durability are decisive factors.

HASTELLOY® C22 is a high-performance nickel alloy designed to operate in extremely corrosive industrial environments. Its composition with chromium, molybdenum and tungsten improves resistance to oxidizing media, reducing environments and chloride solutions.

This alloy is used when conventional stainless steels do not provide sufficient protection and when corrosion-related downtime can generate high costs, safety risks or loss of production continuity.

In machining, HASTELLOY® C22 requires experience, rigidity, proper cooling and high-performance tools to maintain dimensional accuracy and a good surface finish.

High resistance to localized corrosion, pitting and crevice corrosion. A premium solution for critical parts exposed to strong acids, chlorides and highly demanding chemical processes.

HASTELLOY® C22 machining

A demanding alloy that requires process control

HASTELLOY® C22 machining should be carried out with stable parameters, suitable tools, efficient cooling and a strategy designed to avoid surface work-hardening, vibration and accelerated tool wear.

In critical parts, tool selection, clamping, feed rate and cooling can make the difference between a stable machining process and a problematic one.
1
Carbide tools.
Recommended to maintain stability, precision and tool life during cutting.
2
Constant feed rates.
Help limit work-hardening and improve surface finish quality.
3
Abundant cooling.
Essential to control temperature, chip evacuation and tool wear.
4
Maximum rigidity.
Key in the machine, clamping and workpiece to avoid vibration and dimensional deviation.
5
Prior technical planning.
The strategy must be adapted to the drawing, geometry, tolerances, batch size and final application.
